Bio

Shannon Savage began a serious pursuit of photography in 1998. Since then she has studied under Ted Austin, a long term, Washington, DC, photographer and educator. She has also completed photography-related programs through Montgomery College in Maryland, Glen Echo Park Arts Programs, Montgomery County Continuing Education, and the Rehoboth Art League. She is a juried artist and has exhibited and sold her work at a variety of venues (see list below).

She and a group of 11 Washington, DC photographic artists started the Photographers' Collective in 2003. She is a past member of FotoCraft Camera Club and a current member of the Rehoboth Art League.

Ms. Savage's work appears in private collections in more than 9 states and in Europe. Ms. Savage's body of work includes landscapes, architecture, travel, nature, portraits and still life. Examples of her work are currently on display through the Rehoboth Art League and this web site. Additional opportunities to view her work will be listed on this web site.

Artist's Statement
I take pictures to make my children proud of me and to express myself in an artistic way. My work is mostly in color. I do not claim to be a technical expert, but rather shoot for the love of it. I prize the personal relationship between the photographer, her camera, her subject, and the light. As I grow as a photographer, I dabble in various genres. I am still seeking my own specialty. I have not found it yet but am enjoying myself in the search.
